On August 31, 2024, the Annual Labor Classic between in-state rivals Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University will have both teams wearing light blue apparel and prostate cancer ribbons on their "Riddell" helmets. These two HBCU programs will start a movement which will raise awareness about prostate cancer and saves thousands of lives in the coming years.
Riddell, the leading maker of football helmets has ignited the movement with a $30,000 donation to Prairie View and Texas Southern. Their donation will help us provide the gear and accessories to make a statement through both of these popular HBCU's at a popular classic and season football opener.
The Dewayne Charleston Foundation will partner with local healthcare providers and provide prostate cancer screenings at several locations in the greater Houston area. For those without insurance, screenings will be free.
Join our team of volunteers and make a difference in the lives of others. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. Sign up today! Email: Dewayne@dcfblue.org
As part of this years Labor Day Classic, we will have the largest prostate screening event of the year. Our goal is to screen over 500 men over 7 days.
